On Sunday, 26 December 2004, a tsunami from an underwater earthquake off the west coast of Sumatra, hit many coastal areas of the southern and south-eastern Asia, including the Maldives. It has caused death and massive destruction. In the Maldives, as in several other countries, many people are dead, missing or injured. Thousands remain homeless. This blog covers the suffering and the efforts to cope with it.
