The tetrapods that formed the protective layer for Male' is littered with debris after the tsunami hit Male'. The capital city of the Maldives did not absorb as much impact from the tidal wave as the other islands of the country did and whether this was due to the tetrapods remains to be seen. Much of the carnage in the country was occuring in the outer islands while the residents of Male' walked through the flooded streets of Male'. Photo: Thoha
